Grrr.

I am filling out more Medicaid forms. Apparently, you have to do this every three months. Three months, apparently, begins from the date you started applying the first time and they conveniently ignore the fact that, although it was July when we began applying, we didn't actually have the ability make a doctor's appointment until October.

These forms ask for way more than the last round. They're confusing. They ask for pieces of paper that we don't have on hand. And they make me feel really stupid.

I hate this. I hate, hate, hate this.

On the plus side, Dowlan has a second interview on Thursday. After the interview Monday, it is clear that this is not his next major career move. But it will pay the bills in the interim.

Gretchen, do you (the kids) not qualify for CHIPS? Someone I know had such a royal pain the ass with Medicaid, but found CHIPS to be so much easier! I don't know anything about either, but wanted to pass that along in case you know something about it.

I hope the interview goes well! It's hard finding a good job these days.

sadly, we do not qualify for CHIP--we are below the threshold, hence the medicaid

Good luck with the interview! I am so sorry that the Medicaid paperwork is so difficult. Please do not feel stupid. You are an extremely intelligent person! I hate how it is so difficult for people who really need the help to get it! It really makes me angry!

We always have problems with the Medicaid paper work too! Everytime I think they through in new things!! It will get better, and good luck with the interview. I know what it is like. We just finally got to the end of our tunnel too.

HHSC will actually send you the paperwork a month prior to your three month deadline. That is, they are supposed to. You are then supposed to complete them with super speed, use telepathy to complete the forms they do not have. That's so when you FexEx your papers in, they can loose them! Oh, don't you just love HHSC?!? Rest assured, you are not alone in your frustration. They are just as friendly to partner agencies... I have spent huge chunks of this week reading the HHSC Handbook (online) and using the form appendex (also online)-- if you think Medicaid is bad, you should try applying for a program with a mandatory work program attached to it(Food Stamps/ TANF)! Sorry you're having trouble with them.

Hope the 2nd interview went well.

My friend had to do that TANF work search program. Living where we live you can only have so many places to go, and she needed 20 "job hunts" a week. She was having to hit alot of places every week just to get her "quto". I don't understand why medicade keeps asking you for more papers. The last several times when I fill them out on Chance I don't have to send them anything but the application.
