Sometimes I just don't know how to answer . . .

I am making dinner. I find a bag of grapes in the bottom of the crisper. They are not, shall we say, a recent purchase. However, they look as if they might have some redeeming qualities.

Dixie: Mommy, are those grapes?
Mommy: Yes they are.
D: What are you doing with them?
M: Oh, I'm just going through them to see which ones are good and which ones need to be thrown away.
D: Like grown-ups do with children sometimes?

Oh, that is just heartbreaking.

Sometimes I wish I could wrap all the kids in the world up in a protective bubble so they would never be exposed to such hurtfull thoughts.

Aww poor Dixie! I don't even know how I would respond to that. My first thought was how she could come up with that, but with everything she's been through....

Sounds like maybe she feels like her Bio mother and her grammy didn't want her, BUT does she even know she's adopted.. if not then I'd think nothing of it.

I don't think she is that abstract yet, guys. I don't think she feels like a bad grape at all. I thought it was funny--one of those things kids say that make you wonder if they pay any attention to what you're talking about.

she does know that she is adopted, but i dont know that she has any idea that this is considered a bad thing in some ways and to some people. she's really a happy kid and was being silly when she said it.
